A Bit About Kristin & Tuesday Pause
Thanks for taking a moment to learn a bit more about me and my endeavor with this blog.
Again, I’m Kristin. I’m not famous nor infamous (thankfully). I’m simply (and gratefully) a wife and mother of two navigating my way through each passing day reliant on the grace and mercy of God. I love to be physically active, intellectually stimulated, and creatively engaged. I can be curious to a fault, pedantic with details, and somehow simultaneously distractible and disorganized.
At times I suffer from what some might call “hermit-like” tendencies – a trait that is a tad pertinent to the creation of Tuesday Pause. I often blame my failure to get out and explore on my to-do list, telling myself that I’d certainly go to that special exhibit at the art museum or hike that trail under the blazing fall canopy if only I didn’t have so many things I needed to do!
You know what I mean…don’t you? You have your list too! Right? There’s great satisfaction in seeing that long series of checkmarks at the end of the day…at the end of the week…at the end of the month. Indeed, the list is always there but I must confess, the satisfaction really does pale in comparison to that obtained from a morning kayaking on a local river or an afternoon at a historic house.
So now knowing a bit more about me…what about Tuesday Pause?
Tuesday Pause is my personal spark designed and intended to get me out and about, especially now as my youngest is finishing up her senior year of high school. My nest will soon be empty. I plan to fill it with new adventures and pursuits. (Why Tuesday you ask? I offer insight on my blog name here.)
While I say my intention is to pause daily life to get out and about, I should really add the qualifier – again! That’s because this is a bit of a return for me.
My journey of exploration actually began over a decade ago on Tuesdays in Japan.
It was in February of 2003 that life threw our family a bit of a curve ball. Living in Austin, Texas at the time, my husband was asked to consider taking a new position in Asia. Asia!
We were quite settled as a family at that point in our lives, having lived in Austin for six years we were not really seeking to shake things up. In fact, we had just begun the “looking phase” for that puppy our kids so desired. Moving half way around the globe was not in our life plan. But then, we don’t always have control over our life plan, do we?
Six months later we were living in Kobe, Japan and my husband was working in Osaka. Our son was in second grade and our daughter was beginning Kindergarten.
All of us were overwhelmed and yes, a bit lost. But we soon realized that we were on an adventure of a lifetime. It was there in Japan that the road to photographer and travel writer began for me.
And now, with my camera and notepad back in hand, Tuesday Pause is my return to that adventure… with one eye focused right here on Northeast Ohio (my home for the past decade) and the other eye turned outward, toward who knows where…
I hope you’ll join me…
